Dagupan lady lawyer named Assistant Solicitor General

PRESIDENT President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo recently appointed a DagupeƱa as assistant Solicitor General.

Atty Sarah Jane Fernandez graduated with a degree of B.S. Legal Management from the Ateneo de Manila University. She was conferred a Juris Doctor Degree (Second Honors) by the Ateneo de Manila School of Law in 1994.

ASG Fernandez, 37, also holds a Master in Management from the Asian Institute of Management. She is an alumna of the Divine Word Academy of Dagupan.

Sarah is the youngest sister of Northern Luzon’s retail magnate Belen Fernandez. The Fernandez family owns and manages the CSI chain of malls and warehouse clubs in Pangasinan, La Union and Baguio.

After passing the bar, Fernandez joined the Office of the Solicitor General in 1995 as an associate solicitor and steadily rose from the ranks.

As a Solicitor, Fernandez was part of the team which successfully defended the Reformed Value Added Tax (RVAT) cases before the Supreme Court.
