Binmaley beach land now “titled”

BINMALEY – The government is apparently losing the battle to racketeers and crime syndicates.

It recently discovered that rights to supposedly parceled lands along the beach here, including the more than 19 hectare Army reservation in barangay San Isidro Norte here, have been sold to private groups and individuals.

Several mansions owned by prominent and rich families of Binmaley have already been constructed inside the army reservation.

The Philippine Army has recently complained that it could not use the reserved land for training of reservists because several mansions that have already been erected inside the reservation.

Alarmed by these developments, Mayor Simplicio Rosario coordinated with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources who vowed to recover the government property acquired by the occupants illegally.

In an ocular inspection of the place, the mayor was surprised to find the army reserved area, declared as such in a proclamation made by President Manuel L. Quezon in the 1940’s, is now dotted with structures owned by prominent families.

Rosario expressed surprise on how the beach land was titled when it was never declared as alienable and disposable by law.

Rosario believes a real estate syndicate with connections inside government agencies have succeeded in convincing certain people, including rich and influential, to buy the parcels of land in the beach area where they constructed their rest and house.

A certain Liwayway Morales is tagged as the one who allegedly facilitated the titling of lands in the beach area through her alleged connection with well placed DENR officials.

The same “Morales” was also involved in the land scam that uncovered in Lingayen last year but it appears that no case was ever filed against her and her cohorts in the government. – A.P.E.
