BAYAMBANG – The minimum motorized tricycle fare in Bayambang will soon be P9.

The Sangguniang Bayan approved the increased fare on second reading Tuesday at its first out-of-town regular session.

In its session held at the Leisure Coast Resort in Dagupan, the SB approved   an additional P2 minimum fare for 4 kilometers plus another P2 for every exceeding kilometer thereafter from the existing P7 minimum fare for all tricycles operating in the town.

Ramos said that the town’s lawmakers considered the petition of the tricycle operators for fare hike as reasonable because of spiraling fuel pump prices and costs of spare parts.

A public hearing was conducted before the ordinance was calendared for deliberation, attended by members of the transport sector, riding public, professionals and others.

Notably, compared to its regular sessions at the municipal hall, the out-of-town session presided by Vice Mayor Jose Ramos was well attended as only Councilor Bernabe Bravo was absent.

The reason? It was held prior to a reception for the silver wedding anniversary of a Bayambang couple at Leisure Coast Resort to which they were invited.
