Cop in hot water for intimidating officer
A policeman from Mangaldan is now in hot water after he angrily tried to intimidate a police major of Dagupan City early morning last Wednesday when the latter accosted him for attempting to do a “hit-and-run” on an injured pedestrian whom he had sideswiped with his motorcycle.
SPO1 Rafael Cerezo of the Mangaldan Police was locked up at the Dagupan police jail after he told off and held Chief Inspector Mario Estrada, deputy chief of Police of Dagupan, by the collar.
Estrada had just caught up with Cerezo whom he berated and ordered to help and assume responsibility for the injury he caused a helpless pedestrian.
Estrada was bound for home when he saw the pedestrian writhing in pain on the highway after he was struck by the motorcycle-riding man. .
He gave a brief chase and flagged down Cerezo who turned out to be a policeman.
An agitated Cerezo then held the deputy chief of police by his collar who had identified himself and angrily shouted at him “pulis din ako” and left.
Both were in civilian clothes.
Estrada then called his men through his radio who immediately intercepted Cerezo who was already headed for his home, and brought to the city jail.
Informed of PO1 Cerezo’s offense, Supt. Segundino Adaliga, chief of police of Mangaldan, said the policeman must suffer for his driving offense and disrespect to a senior police officer.
It was not learned on what case would be filed against Cerezo for the injury caused the pedestrian. – APE
