Mayor vs. dad in Laoac

By June 4, 2006Inside News, News

LAOAC – “Nothing personal, it is simply all about work.”

This was stressed by Councilor Patricio Rebugio, in response to the sarcastic statement of Mayor Gregorio Tabayayong that he (Rebugio) is raising many unfounded issues against him just to earn ‘pogi’ points.

Tabayoyong charged that Rebugio is throwing mud at him because the latter is planning on seeking a higher position in next year’s election.

To this, Rebugio quickly replied he has no such intentions.

He said he was fiscalizing Mayor Tabayoyong’s official activities because he wants to help put things in order for the benefit of the greater majority of the townspeople.

Only recently, Rebugio revealed that the backhoe purchased by the municipal government was grossly overpriced to the disadvantage of the municipal government.

He urged Mayor Tabayoyong to be more transparent in his transactions in order not to arouse suspicion from the public.

Tabayoyong, however, was also quick to deny any wrongdoing and defended the purchases made by the government, saying these were beneficial to the townspeople. — APE
