DBM exec, guest at Freedom Day rite
DEPARTMENT of Budget and Management Regional Director Atty. Janet Abuel, a bar topnotcher from Dagupan City, will be the guest of honor and speaker during the 108th commemoration of the Philippine Independence Day at the city plaza here on Monday at 7:30 a.m.
A floral offering rite at the foot of the monument of Dr. Jose Rizal at the People’s Park will open the celebration to be followed by the release of balloons.
Mayor Benjamin Lim, Sangguniang Panlungsod members, department heads, members of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, officials of the Department of Education and other government agencies will join Atty. Abuel in the floral offering.
Also participating will be Boys and Girls Scouts, members of the Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines (Alfonso Leesin Memorial Lodge No. 158 and Pangasinan Lodge No. 56), Knights of Columbus, war veterans and members of civic organizations.
The second part of the program will start with a Prayer for the Nation to be led by special science students of the Dagupan City National High School, to be followed by a flag-raising ceremony.
Mayor Lim will deliver the opening remarks to be followed by the speech of Atty. Abuel.
Mrs. Honorata Siapno, president of the Metro-Dagupan Culture and Arts Council, will announce the composition of the of the 3rd batch of youth city officials comprising the “Ogogaw ya Manlinkor” who will rule the city for a week on the third part of the day’s program.
The Batang officials will take their oaths of office before Mayor Lim.
Vice Mayor Alvin Fernandez will deliver the closing remarks.
Shortly after the program, a Freedom Build Day on the theme ‘Building a Culture of Heroism’ will be held at the3 GK-Bangusville in Bonuan Gueset at 9:30 a.m.
Mayor Lim said he views the activity as “a perfect time for us to manifest our love and concern for the poor community by together building houses for them.”
Lim enjoined all city government employees to participate in the Freedom Build and bring with them their own construction gadgets, like shovel, pail, iron bar (bareta, and bolo.)
