IN pursuit of its goal to be transformer of people and communities, the University of Pangasinan sent 19 National Service Training Program (NSTP) facilitators to the Students’ Transformation and Enrichment for Truth-Values Integration and Promotion-Civil Welfare Training Service (STET-VIP-CWTS) Qualifying Course.

The university’s delegation to the qualifying course held at the Divine Word Retreat House in Baguio City from April 29 to May 1, 2006, was sent by the Extension Service, headed by Dr. Edwin C. Cancino.

The STET-VIP is a moral recovery and youth development program and the brainchild of the Samahang Itinataguyod ang Kakayahang Angkin sa Pag-unlad / Society Towards Reinforcing Inherent Viability for Enrichment (SIKAP/STRIVE) Foundation.

The program, under the stewardship of its course director, Dr. Vivian A. Gonzales, aims to promote self-awareness and development and to enhance classroom instruction for nurturing ‘values ‘formation, inculcate transformational leadership, and de velop responsible social interaction.

Forty-three delegates from representatives from various state and private owned colleges and universities all over the country attended the program.

The University of Pangasinan sent the biggest delegation. It was also the sole HEI from Region I and reflects the university’s commitment for the development of the youth, the future leaders of the country.

Dr. Gonzales has also expressed her intention of making the university a center for training NSTP coordinators and facilitators in Region 1.
