Police boasts of 92% crime solution rate

The Dagupan City Police Station had another feather on its cap.

The city’s number one and number three most wanted persons are finally in police custody. They were finally arrested after three years of manhunt operations by the joint operatives of the Dagupan Police Station and NBI Dagupan.

Arrested were Rodel “Itiw” de Guzman and Roel Fernandez.

The arrest of the two suspects speaks of the of the improved crime solution efficiency of the Dagupan City Police Station, posting 91.66% efficiency rate compared to last year’s 78.08%, or a 13.58% improvement for the period January 1 to April 30.

Police Chief Edgar Basbas said the decrease in the incidents of crime was noted during the first quarter of the year after the city police intensified its efforts in its anti-crime strategies and crime prevention efforts.

“Dagupan City is generally peaceful and the crime situation is very manageable,” said Basbas during his peace and order situation briefing before the city’s Peace and Order Council on May 16 at the Mayor’s Conference Room.

He added that the city remains to be jueteng free.

Police records registered a 12 percent drop in non-index crimes such as illegal gambling, illegal possession of firearms, illegal detention, smuggling, carnapping, illegal drugs, kidnapping, violation of city ordinance, etc. Robbery, an index crime most prevalent in the city, has also decreased by 46% percent.
