Police told to be vigilant vs jueteng

THERE will be no jueteng in Dagupan.

      This was the city mayor’s standing order to the city’s police station.

“There is no place for jueteng and other kinds of illegal gambling like hataw in Dagupan City,” said Mayor Benjamin Lim as he reiterated the city government ‘s position vis-à-vis jueteng campaign and other illegal gambling activities.

Lim clarified that “jueteng” has been totally eradicated in the city as validated by police authorities.

Records bared that since April 2005, no jueteng operations have been reported at the Dagupan Police Station.

The mayor attributed the city’s success to the cooperation among the police, community and local government units.

He said that police personnel will monitor daily activities in the city to preempt any illegal gambling operations.

“I advised members of the Dagupan Police to be vigilant and exert all efforts to make sure no such operations will ever take place within the city,” said Lim.

He commended the efforts of Dagupan Police chief Col. Edgar Basbas, the PNP Intelligence Section led by Capt. Faustino Ferrer Jr. and the Special Operations Group headed by Capt. Brendon Palisoc who were tasked to monitor the operators of the illegal numbers game and for ensuring the government’s victory against jueteng.

The signing of the “jueteng-free” certificate was witnessed by Mayor Lim, Col. Basbas, Office of the Senior Citizen Association president Felipe Siapno and Pastor Jobert Esteves.
