Dagupeña speaks at NY senior citizen rites

ROSIE Ramos-Catubig, a recently retired nutritionist from the New York State Department of Health in the United States, was the guest speaker during the celebration of the National Nutrition Month at the Jewish-American Services for the Aged (JASA), a center for senior citizens in Rockaway Park, New York City.

   She spoke on the nutritional needs of the elderly in order to live longer, a subject that elicited much interest and a lively discussion among those in the audience.

   JASA is a government-sponsored project whose activities are funded by the U.S. Federal Government, the  State Government of New York and theDepartment of the Aging in New York City.

   Mrs. Catubig who, together with her husband, Atty. Alejandro L. Catubig, a retired Philippine diplomat, hails from Dagupan City. Before leaving for the United States in the 1960’s, she was a member of the faculty of the School of Nursing  of Luzon Colleges, now the University of Luzon, and also a dietitian at the Dagupan City Polyclinic Hospital.

     Meanwhile, Mrs. Catubig has been considered by the Philippine Mental Health Association, Pangasinan-Dagupan City Chapter, as its biggest benefactor.

 She responded generously to the appeal of Ramon Reyna, chapter chairman, and Mrs. Socorro G. Ramos, treasurer, who are actively campaigning for the involvement of balikbayans.
