MANAOAG – The town’s Municipal Engineer is under fire from the municipal council for granting special permits to people who constructed their houses but failed to secure the required building permits.

Councilor Ed Pascua said Municipal Engineer Rey Galano must be investigated for his questionable transactions, for allowing certain individuals to build their projects without any building permit at all.

Pascua said the mere fact that Galano admitted that a few individuals were granted special permits by him is an indication that he committed acts inimical to the public service and should be made liable for his acts.

Pascua  and Galano figured in a near fist fight during the session when  Galano  said that Pascua was among the individuals he had given special consideration when he (Pascua) was constructing his own house.

Pascua immediately denied the allegation and dared Galano to prove his accusation.

The Sangguniang Bayan summoned Galano Monday to  shed  light on  the complaint of  an  ap plicant for a  building  permit  who alleged that Galano required  him to produce so  many  requirements which were not related to  his application for a building permit.

The SB has given Galano a chance to further explain himself even as Pascual quickly pointed out that the investigation of Galano was not meant to harass the latter. –APE
