LINGAYEN – Gov. Victor E. Agbayani commended the provincial police office headed by Senior Supt. Alan Purisima and the Pangasinan Shooters Association, Inc. (PSAI) headed by Police Supt. Mariano Luis Verzosa, Jr. for coming up with another edition of the Gov. Victor E. Agbayani Cup 2006 shooting competition.

“This event marks another major step forward in our effort to improve the efficiency of our local police force to enable them to pursue with greater success their mission to secure peace and order in our province,” Agbayani said.

Slated March 16-19, the shooting competition is sponsored by the PSAI, Pangasinan police provincial office and supported by the provincial government.

Verzosa said the event is sanctioned as Level 2 PPSA Pistol Match by the Philippine Practical Shooting Association.

It consists of seven stages with a total of 168 rounds. It includes a special match for the PNP members and an area 2 circuit match.

All active PNP personnel from any unit can qualify for the special PNP match, Verzosa said.

The circuit match participating clubs include the Dagupan Practical Shooting Association, Don Juan Shooting Association, Hundred Islands Practical Shooting Association, La Union Practical Shooting Association, Mitura Shooting Association, Rosales Practical Shooting Association, PMS Shooting Association from Baguio City, Pangasinan Shooters Association, and the 580 ABW Practical Shooting Association.

Both sharpshooters themselves, Gov. Agbayani and Provincial Administrator Virgilio Solis, Jr. will fire the ceremonial shots to mark the opening of the competition on March 16 at the Pangasinan PNP Firing Range in Lingayen.

A registration fee of P500 will be charged each participant.
