Gina to organize grieving mothers
THE advocacy to help grieving mothers will be introduced in Pangasinan on April 1.
This will be done with the launching of the INA (Inang Naulila sa Anak) Foundation by its founder, Mrs. Gina de Venecia at her residence at Bonuan Binloc.
The launching will coincide with the inauguration and opening of The Haven for Children in Bonuan Binloc, just beside The Haven for Women.
INA Foundation is an organization co-founded by Ms. Ali Sotto to provide psycho-social support to bereaved mothers through programs to help them move from a “numbing grief” to a “place of home”.
In that occasion, Mrs. De Venecia will meet all mothers, who have lost their children.
In a statement before the launching, Mrs. De Venecia said: “In our matriarchal society, the mother is the center of the family. Her state of mind must be stable but grief can defeat her plan,” she said.
Mrs. De Venecia herself lost her daughter KC in a fire that gutted their Makati residence before Christmas two years ago.
Stressing that it is important to have a support group for mothers; Mrs. De Venecia said there is no formal organization that supports mothers when they lose a child.
She said INA Foundation which she founded in Manila “will fill in that need”.
With the help of the DSWD and the Local Government Units, INA Foundation will promote livelihood projects through the Development Bank of the Philippines.
For membership, concerned parties may contact the spouses of the mayors in the towns of Mangaldan, San Fabian and San Jacinto.
In Dagupan City, interested parties may contact Cheryl Cerdan at the district office of Speaker de Venecia with Tel. No. 523-6391. – HBB
