WATCH out for tastiest tocino, longganisa, boneless bangus and other Dagupan-made products that will be introduced during the search for “Dagupan’s Best”.

Vice Mayor Alvin Fernandez, chairman of the search, said “Dagupan’s Best” will be one of the features of the Bangus Festival this year and will be held on April 27 at the new Malimgas Public Market.

The search is actually a competition of original recipes for locally-made tocino, longganisa, tapa, lumpiang bangus, burong mangga, atsara, tinapang bangus, bone less bangus, ube, pastilyas and bocayo.

“This is our own way of promoting special recipes for the different local products,” said Fernandez.

He said the winning entries will be adopted as official recipes for the various Dagupan food products that will be produced by the city’s women’s group as part of their livelihood projects.

Fernandez has tapped the Malimgas-Aliguas Dagupan Vendors” Federation and the Rotary Club of Dagupan as partners in promoting the project.

These products will be promoted as “Dagupan’s Best” products for both the local and international markets, he added.

Aside from receiving free marketing promotions, the winning entries will also win cash prizes, Fernandez said.

The grand prize winner will be chosen based on the number of entries that the participant had won.

To qualify, the participant must be a Pangasinense and must be willing to have his or her recipe branded as “Dagupan’s Best” should it win.
