URDANETA CITY – Mayor Amadeo Perez, Jr has clarified that he had nothing to do with the sudden relief of Supt. Johnny Bacbac as chief of police here.

The mayor said it was PNP Director General Arturo Lomibao who ordered the relief of Bacbac soon after an illegal gambling task force confiscated gambling machines called “Hataw” here last week.

Bacbac, who was reportedly immediately sent on schooling, was replaced by Supt. Paquito Navarete, police chief of Binmaley.

Nevertheless, Mayor Perez welcomed Navarette who assumed the position of chief of police in an acting capacity.

Saying that Navarete is also a good performer like Bacbac, Perez asked the OIC chief of police to strengthen the campaign against all forms of illegal gambling here.

For his part, Navarete said he considers being named as OIC chief of police here a big challenge to him. – APE
