Tondaligan prepares for Pista’y Dayat
All dilapidated picnic sheds at the Tondaligan Park are now subject of clearing operations, according to Tondaligan Park Administrator Dino Zabala.
Zabala said two dilapidated picnic sheds have already been removed while six others are set to follow suit.
“We want to emphasize that this is merely a clearing operation and not demolition. If it is demolition, all picnic sheds at Tondaligan Park will be demolished,” he said.
Mayor Benjamin Lim ordered the clearing operations to prepare the picnic sheds for the Holy Week and the “Pistay Dayat” on May 1.
Zabala said the demolition of the picnic sheds will only take place when the redevelopment plan of Tondaligan Park will begin.
The final design of the redevelopment plan is now being prepared by an architect from Manila, Zabala said.
The redevelopment plan will include the set-back of the picnic sheds few meters away from the water as they are now too close to the sea and are blocking the majestic view of the Lingayen Gulf from beach-combers. This will also provide for the construction of uniformed picnic sheds with each sitio adopting its own color. One or two swimming pools will also be constructed for tourists and visitors.
