A provincial task force formed by Gov. Victor Agbayani is set to conduct a dialogue with refillers, dealers and retailers of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) aimed at guarding, regulating and monitoring unsafe LPG cylinders.

Marjury Loresco of the Department of Trade and Industry said the dialogue will be called by the newly created Provincial Task Force LPG, composed of the DTI, Bureau of Fire Protection and the Police.

The dialogue cum forum is part of the information drive regarding the implementation of fair trade laws on LPG.

She said the government is set to crack down on the proliferation and use of unsafe and sub-standard LPG in the market.

LPG dealers and retailers were invited to attend the forum and prepare them for regular inspection of different establishments by the task force.

Loresco said it is the smaller LPG distributor-proprietors who are rampantly committing the illegal practices.

A memorandum of agreement was signed between the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Department of Energy, adopting measures to stop the increase of unsafe LPG cylinders, and at the same time created Task Force LPG.–AQL
