LINGAYEN–Two members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan filed a resolution urging Congress to file a bill seeking to establish a state-owned science high school in the province, preferably to be based in this town.

The resolution of Provincial  Board Members Von Mark Mendoza and  Amadeo  Espino, president of the provincial Liga ng mga Barangay, was endorsed principally to Rep. Amado Espino Jr. of the second district , and to the five other congressmen of the province.

The two urged the lawmakers  to work for the establishment of the Pangasinan Science High School in order to train future scientists of the province.

They maintained that the province should have a science high school that will help mold budding scientists who can make the country economically competitive.

“The establishment of this kind of educational institution would create new teaching jobs for science teachers and trainors so that students can become future leaders and professionals in the field of science and technology,” Mendoza said.

Mendoza added that Pangasinan will gain more prominence by becoming a producer not only of world-class products but also of competent young scientists.

He expressed optimism that the project will receive strong support in view of the government’s constitutional mandate to “establish, maintain and support a complete, adequate and integrated system of education relevant to the needs of the people and society.”
