Mart vendors apprehensive
Sta. Barbara – Vendors at the town’s public market expressed apprehension over a possible move to eject them to give way to plans of big businessmen to occupy their stalls.
Felix Laguina, the town’s general services officer, said it is still premature to speculate because the municipal government will still have to study the plan properly, if any.
Leguina, however, said he cannot blame the vendors for their apprehension since if they are not yet fully aware of the plan of the municipal government headed by Mayor Jinky Zaplan.
“Whatever is the outcome of the study, for sure, the vendors will be allowed to express their side on the matter, Leguina said.
The public market was built during the past administration of Mayor Carlito Zaplan, Jinky’s husband, and is not yet fully occupied.
Of course, the municipal government would like more businessmen to occupy the public market and any one who would come would be amply protected, he said.- APE
