Dagupan bags ‘most competitive city’ award

Dagupan City has been cited as one of the Most Competitive Cities in the Philippines in the small cities category last February 13 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Makati City.

Vice Mayor Alvin Fernandez, representi8ng Mayor Benjamin Lim, received the award with Sangguniang Panlungsod members Joey Tamayo Alex de Venecia, Farah Decano, Vladimir Mata, Michael Fernandez, Jojo Guadiz, and City Administrator Rafael Baraan.

The City Competitiveness Program started in 1997 by the AIM Policy Center with financial assistance from prestigious international organizations such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Asia Foundation and the Gender Technical Cooperation Agency.
 

Out of 37 small cities Dagupan ranked number one in terms of human resource training, Fernandez said.

 Fernandez said that aside from the human resource training there were six other categories in which the Ten Most Competitive Cities were chosen.

 The City ranked 12th in “Dynamism of local economy” category,  3rd in  “Infrastructure”; 16th in “Quality of life”;  19th in “Linkages and connectivity”;  12th in “Responsiveness of local government”; 31st in “Cost  of doing  business”.
