Alaminos, Bayambang bag top PNP awards

San Fernando City, La Union–The anti-drug abuse councils of Alaminos City and the municipality of Bayambang have been cited as the region’s most outstanding in their respective categories while Lingayen Police Station and the 106th Provincial mobile Group clinched the honors as the Municipal Police Station of the Year and Provincial Mobile Group of the Year) respectively. 

 

The two councils and police station in Pangasinan were presented citations by Chief Supt. Alfredo de Vera Jr, Philippine National Police (PNP) regional director during the 15th PNP anniversary here last week. 

 

After he presented the citations to all the awardees, De Vera reported that about P283, 637,898 estimated market value of illegal drugs were confiscated by police elements in the Ilocos region resulting in the arrest of 557 suspected pushers and 413 criminal cases filed in court. 

 

He said the police regional office 1 (PRO1) registered a crime volume of 456 and of this number, 440 were solved, registering a crime solution efficiency of 96.49 percent. 

 

On the campaign against loose firearms, the PRO1 confiscated 434 firearms, 71 of which are high powered and 363 are low powered with a total of 320 persons arrested and 318 cases filed in court. 

 

De Vera proudly reported that region 1 remains “jueteng-free” for the past nine months. “With the full cooperation of all sectors, region 1 will not tolerate or allow its resurgence in whatever form,” he said. 

 

Meanwhile, de Vera said 17 top most wanted persons were arrested as a result of intensified campaign against hardened criminals while they were able to neutralize 38 crime groups involved in several criminal activities. 

 

The other awardees were La Union Police Provincial Office (Police Provincial Office of the Year), Laoag City Police Station as the City Police Station of the Year. 

 

For the Best Anti-Drug Abuse Council categories, Ilocos Sur Provincial Anti-Drug Administration (Best PADAC) and barangay Poblacion West, Rosario, La Union (Best BADAC for 2005). 

 

For the WCPD of the Year, Vigan City Police Station won in urban category and Batac Police Station for the rural category. 

 

The Best Senior PCO (Police Commissioned Officer) for Administration was Police Senior Supt. Manuel Credo while Senior PCO of the Year for Operation was Supt. Benjamin Lusad from Ilocos Norte PPO. 

 

Chief Inspector Jacinto Gagaza Jr. was the Junior PCO of the Year for national and regional level. 

 

SPO2 Rosendo Acob from Ilocos Norte PPO was named the best Senior PNCO of the Year while PO2 Nieva Castro of La Union PPO won as the Junior PNCO of the Year. 

 

The Regional Supply Accountable Officer of PRO1, non-uniformed police Clarita Lingaling was chosen as the NUP of the Year for Supervisory level and NUP Judith Laparan from the regional operations and plans division for non-supervisory. 

 

In the search for civilian awardees in Best Non Government Organization was ROTARAC Community Corps represented by Ashok Vasandani, Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur Mayor Floro Tadena as Best Local Government Executive and the Municipality of Bauang, La Union as Best Local Government Unit.–EVA
