Agbayani gives no deadline to Purisima

Lingayen – Gov. Victor Agbayani said he instructed Police Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Alan Purisima to give priority to solve the recent robbery cases committed in several towns but didn’t give him any deadline.

He said he is not giving Purisima any deadline since he does not want the police to risk violating human rights of suspects.

Purisima was recently heavily critized by Vice Gov. Oscar Lambino for the latter’s failure to solve and check the rash of hold-ups and break-ins in the province.

Unlike Lambino, however, Agbayani indicated he has not lost hope on the police yet and believes they still respond effectively to the present situation.

“I already talked to him (Purisima) about these problems and he promised to do something,” Agbayani told newsmen shortly after addressing the PNP 15th anniversary last Wednesday.

In his speech at the PNP anniversary, Purisima said he is set to form motorcycle patrols in every police station whose members will be trained to go after hoodlums riding on motorcycles.

The motorcyles were recently ordered delivered by Police Director General Arturo Lomibao but policemen, he said, are still being taught and trained by the Traffic Management Group on their use.

The suspects were usually armed men wearing crash helmets riding tandem on motorcycles without plate numbers.

An upsurge in crimes perpetrated by so-called ‘acetylene’ gang victimizing business establishments in Dagupan City and Urdaneta City, was also noted.
