Woman recruiter arrested, jailed
Tayug – A woman illegal recruiter is now being held at the district Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Urdaneta City for large-scale estafa and illegal recruitment after swindling at least 48 job applicants for fictitious jobs in Spain.
Leticia Ganaden, 44, of barangay Mabanogbog in Urdaneta City, was arrested by the police in Mandaluyong City sometime in January by virtue of warrants of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Meliton Emuslan of Branch 47 at whose salad nine cases of estafa and illegal recruitment were filed against the suspect.
She was also charged with the same offense by three complainants before the sala of Judge Joven Costales of Branch 45.
In the sala of Judge Emuslan, nine complainants alleged they paid P3 million to the suspect on different dates.
However, all these cases were consolidated on motion of Urdaneta City Prosecutor Silvestre Ridao.
The following victims claimed they paid the suspect: Romeo Jamandre paid P330,000;, Rodolfo Pulido, P330,000; Augusto Licudo, P300,000; Daisy Arrieta, P270,000; Delia Nastok, P240,000; Oliver Untalan, P240,000; Donna Belmonte, P180,000; Neil Ambrosio, P180,000; Gloria Ranico, P270,000; Mario Andrada, P300,000; Rosalina Valdez, P300,000; Sam Tira, P80,000.
Most if not all victims were farmers, unemployed housewives who sold their treasured possessions, like pieces of farm lands, houses and carabaos in order to come up with the amount demanded by Ganaden just for them to be employed in Spain.
In their complaint, Jamandre and Pulido saidGanaden misrepresented herself as having the ability to work for their papers for supposed jobs in Spain.
Both Jamandre and Pulido called on other victims of Ganaden from Pangasinan to come out in the open and also file their respective complaints against the suspect.
A report said that the suspect also recruited job applicants from Ilocos Sur.
