STUDENT-WRITER-TWINS WIN SECOND PALANCA AWARDS

THE award-winning Alesna twin-sisters from St. Albert the Great School in Barangay Malued added another feather to their caps after bagging their second Carlos Palanca Memorial Award each during the 71st edition of the prestigious literary competition.

Glorious Zahara Exylin Alesna won 2nd prize for her essay, ‘The Bully is You’ while Glorious Zavannah Exylin Alesna clinched the 3rd prize for her “Salaysay‘ – Sa Panahon ng Bagabag at Balisa: Paghagilap sa Pira-pirasong Retaso ng Hinahon at Pa(g)hinga’, all under the Kabataan Division.

Recognized as the Pulitzer Prize of the Philippines, the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, held on November 27 this year at the Philippine International Convention Center, honors and gives incentives to Filipino writers.

The remarkable student-writer duo previously won first prize each in 2022 for their entries, also under the English and Filipino essay categories, as follows: ‘Home is a Bowl of Warm Soup’ for Zahara and ‘Pamimintana’ for Zavannah.
