MANLINGKOR YA KALANGWERAN

SEVENTY-five students from public and private secondary schools in Dagupan assumed their posts as young city officials under the restored leadership program for the youth called Manlingkor Ya Kalangweran (MYK), one of the highlights of the 75th Founding Anniversary or Diamond Jubilee of the city under Mayor Belen Fernandez’s administration.

The mayor administered the group’s oath-taking on October 17, 2022 at the City Plaza prior to their deployment to their counterpart offices.

The MYK officials attended a leadership workshop training organized by the Department of Education Schools Division Office last October 10 where Mayor Fernandez encouraged them to become advocates of good governance, compassion, efficiency and transparency – the qualities of a good leader.

Seith Andrei E. Ambat, a 13-year-old Grade 9 student from East Central Integrated School was named this year’s Young City Mayor.

The young leader from Barangay Caranglaan said he hopes to learn something new, develop his leadership skills and personally witness how Mayor Fernandez performs as mayor.
