WOMENFOLK in Dagupan City will soon avail of free mammography services following the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the Dagupan City government and the Dagupan Doctors Villaflor Memorial Hospital (DDVMH) on September 19, 2022.

Mayor Belen  Fernandez and City Health Officer Dr. Ophelia Rivera signed the MOA with DDVMH Medical Director Dr. Vivencio Villaflor III to enable women in the city early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer.

The partnership was initiated in observance of the celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

Dr. Rosario Pitargue, DDVMH’s Head of the Cancer Institute and Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine, said the hospital team is set to conduct lectures among barangay health workers to educate them on signs and symptoms as well as early detection of breast cancer.

The hospital’s medical van will also be utilized to conduct breast screening and examination for patients.

Mayor Fernandez also cited the possibility of a tri-sector collaboration between Villaflor Foundation and Unilab Foundation for a Youth Summit on Health, a part of Children’s Summit, an educational program for children for the promotion of good health and prevention of various diseases.
