Six outgoing Dagupan councilors commended
FOR EXCEPTIONAL DEDICATED SERVICE
SIX outgoing city councilors were given an emotional adieu by their colleagues in the Sanggunian Panlungsod when the latter passed separate resolutions expressing the highest appreciation and recognition to them individually for their “exceptional and dedicated public service through effective and efficient legislation” during their respective stints.
During the valedictory session of the SP presided by Vice Mayor Bryan Kua, the six city councilors were called to the podium one after the other for their respective responses after each resolution was passed.
The six were Councilors Jose Netu Tamayo who completed his 18 years of service in the city council, Luis Samson Jr., who served as councilor for 24 years; Karlos Liberato Reyna IV, who completed 12 years as city councilor; and Marvin Fabia, who was city councilor for nine straight years.
Councilors Teresa Coquia and Cisco Flores had only one term as city councilors.
Tamayo and Fabia were no longer eligible for another reelection while Samson, Reyna and Coquia sought reelection but lost. In the case of Flores, he chose to be the first nominee in the party-list Tulungan Tayo that lost in the last election, instead of running for a second term of office.
Speaking individually before the podium during the valedictory session of the SP, Reyna, Coquia and Flores became emotional, as they recalled their happy memories as part of the city’s legislature.
In their last session at the SP, the six city councilors were each handed a copy of the resolution in the form of a glass plaque.
In his response, Councilor Tamayo thanked both the late Mayor Benjamin Lim and Mayor Belen Fernandez for including him in their respective tickets.
Both Fabia and Coquia admitted being elected in the past for being included in the ticket of Mayor Fernandez.
Of the 12 city councilors, only six remained: Michael Fernandez, Dennis Canto, Liga ng Barangay Council president Marcelino Fernandez, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president Joshua Bugayong. Councilor Librada Reyna-Macalanda and Celia Lim. (Leonardo Micua)
