Mayor Belen: The corrupt at city hall will have no Christmas cheer

By July 9, 2022Governance

THE members of the finance committee at the Dagupan City hall are on notice after Mayor Belen Fernandez failed to receive a full report of the actual finances of the city government.

This became evident as Mayor Fernandez continued to warn officials and staff at the city hall of immediate separation from service during the July 4 Monday flag ceremony, if they continue with their illegal transactions.

Hindi na kayo aabot sa Merry Christmas sa serbisyo kung ipagpapatuloy ninyo ang inyong tiwaling gawain,” Fernandez said.

Fernandez said she has yet to receive a full report from the city’s finance committee of the actual funds left in every department by the past city administration.

The members of the  city finance committee are: offices of the City Treasurer, City Accountant, and the City Budget.

She said she became suspicious of the committee’s unusual delay in submitting a complete report that she requested and warned that the days of city officials that will not perform their duties are numbered.

“I want a full report immediately as I am now excited to work for our people,” Fernandez said in her post in social media.

She said she wants to validate the claim of outgoing Mayor Brian Lim that his administration left P1.2 billion in the city coffer for her administration as illustrated in a  report that the latter posted on Facebook prepared by Danica O. Teodoro, CPA, Accountant 1 and “noted” by Randolph F. Ubando, MPA, OIC-CTO/Assistant City Treasurer.

Fernandez said she will probe who deprived residents of the “ayuda”,  those responsible for the missing SAP allowance, those who exacted illegal fees from the city residents and other illegal activities in violation of the Civil Service code.

She said without a full report, she cannot officially appoint new officials and employees.  (Leonardo Micua)
