Gov. Espino leads Agew na P’sinan celeb, revives P’sinan Tourism & Trade Expo

COMMEMORATING the foundation day of the province of Pangasinan, Governor Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III led the 442nd Agew na Pangasinan (Pangasinan Day) on April 5.
Shortly after the Thanksgiving Mass presided by Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates B. Villegas at the Sison Auditorium, Gov. Espino led the ribbon-cutting of the 13th Pangasinan Tourism and Trade Expo at the Capitol Beachfront.
Joining Governor Espino were: Board Member Nestor “Nikiboy” Reyes, BM Chinky Perez-Tababa, BM Nicholi Jan Louie Sison, BM Noel Bince, BM Jeanne Jinky Zaplan and Lingayen Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil.
In an interview, Gov. Espino noted that the provincial government organized the tourism and trade expo, which offers free rental fees, to showcase local entrepreneurs’ products that are Pangasinan-made.
“Nag-organize kami ng konting pagkakakitaan ng mga Pangasinense na may binibentang produkto… these are all free at wala tayong sinisingil sa kanila,” Gov. Espino said.
It can be recalled that after two years of hiatus due to pandemic, the provincial government revived the province’s tourism and trade expo that serves as an opening salvo to the Pistay Dayat celebration in Pangasinan.
“With the Alert Level I guidelines at medyo lumuluwag na ngayon, we also try to celebrate na may pag-iingat pa rin…Kahit papaano,ang mga kababayan natin ay makaikot at maramdaman nila ang kaarawan ng probinsya ng Pangasinan,” stressed Gov. Espino.
Open from April 5 to May 1, the 13th Pangasinan Tourism and Trade Expo highlights the following: One Town, One Product (OTOP) of various local government units (LGUs) in the province; arts and crafts; tourism-related establishments/services; and others.
The provincial government under the leadership of Gov. Espino has been steadfast in assisting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and their livelihood made evident with the launching of Pamanang Yaman, Produktong Pangasinan (PYPP) in the midst of pandemic to help them bounce back from their losses.
According to Provioncial Population, Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office (PPCLDO), the PYPP has earned more than P10-million profit after about 70 stop-overs in different towns/cities of Pangasinan to market Pangasinan products produced by MSMEs and cooperatives at cost-selling price.
With this program of the provincial government, over 1,200 members and employees of MSMEs and cooperatives who are part of the program have been assisted.
Governor Espino also intensifies Livelihood Assistance Program (LAP) of the provincial government that provides loan grants to cooperatives and MSMEs to help them expand their livelihood ventures.
Under the mandate of Gov. Espino, the provincial government also implemented 0% interest rate for the beneficiaries of LAP.
Under the leadership of Gov. Espino since 2016, over P157.6-million loan assistance was granted to 333 cooperatives and MSMEs with 31, 404 beneficiaries. /Shiella Mae DG. Castro
