ABOUT 18,142 barangay volunteer workers in the Province of Pangasinan received amelioration aid, in time for the Christmas, from the Provincial Government of Pangasinan led by Governor Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III.

The said barangay volunteers are composed of: 12,322 Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), 2,608 Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs), 1,708 Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs), and 1,504 Day Care Workers.

Paying tribute to their remarkable efforts and contributions in the province, Governor Pogi awarded P2,000 each to all the barangay voulunteers during Joint Amelioration Distribution held in various parts of the province from December 6 to 21.

Governor Pogi repeatedly commended the outstanding sacrifices and dedication of the volunteer workers that greatly help the efforts of the provincial government in combating COVID-19.

“Sa inyong lahat, kami ay nagpapasalamat sa inyong sakripisyo sa ating mga barangay,” said Gov. Pogi as he noted that COVID-19 active cases in Pangasinan have been going down consistently.

Gov. Pogi stressed that the provincial government earmarked a total of P61-million for this annual amelioration distribution of the province, which now also included Civilian Volunteer Organizations (CVOs) or popularly known as barangay tanods.

“Naisip po ng provincial government na bigyan din ang ating mga kabarangay na CVO para matikman din nila at makasama na sila every year,” Gov. Pogi added.

The provincial chief executive also pledged that the provincial government will further strengthen its programs and services to uplift the lives of Pangasinenses.

“Kapalit ng inyong sakripisyo ay ang aming serbisyo sa pamahalaang panlalawigan… magtatrabaho kami para sa inyo,” he said.

It can be recalled that the amelioration distribution for barangay volunteer workers started in 2008 under the leadership of Former Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. which has been sustained by the administration of Gov. Pogi.

Simultaneously, the provincial government also staged free COVID-19 and flu vaccination in all venues of the amelioration distribution for all barangay volunteers.
