FOURTH District Rep. Christopher de Venecia further boosted the creative industry when he gathered 20 graphic artists for a week-long graphic Design Workshop where they heard lectures from known artists and worked on the designs of 10 partner Small and Medium Enterprises. (SMEs).

Held from November 15 to 20 at the De Venecia Compound  in Barangay Bonuan Binloc, Dagupan Cty, the workshop was facilitated by the And a Half Design Studio that recently branched its services to  training and  re-training of graphic artists, in addition to designs and cultural arts

De Venecia explained that the workshop, a  part of his two main advocacies—creative industry and small businesses – was aimed at helping local  SMEs improve the brand of their products and services to help them attract more buyers and customers with the help of And a Half Design Studio

The timely move from the pandemic brought out a healthy collaboration between the graphic artists and owners and proprietors of SMEs who often post and advertise their products and services on social media like Instagram and Facebook.

He said the rationale for the Graphic Design Workshop, is to being about a need for designs that can be in tune to the tastes of the people, especially the millennials.

The workshop enabled participants to dwell not only on the improved logos and designs of the SMEs but also on the history of each and the other products that they can offer to their clients.

One of the panelists, Cristina Seen, the woman behind Panaderia  San Antonio Food Corporation and of Plato Wraps, was happy to note that with little more rebranding the Reydel Ice Cream of Manaoag, Pangasinan, which makes malunggay ice cream, can hit it big worldwide.

Helena Dolnuan of Sierra Vista Beach Resort, another panelist, found the workshop relevant because of the pandemic when many businesses suffered downtrend and need rebranding in order to bounce back.

Noting that the graphic artists in Pangasinan are still unorganized, De Venecia plans to bind them together into one potent group so that any SME needing its  help to promote their businesses, can easily contact them.

Joshua Bernabe, a free-lance graphic designer from San Fabian, thanked Congressman De Venecia for sponsoring the workshop because it enabled them to expand their knowledge and skills and outlook  which could hopefully bring them more SME clients. (Leonardo Micua)
