Potential of agriculture in P’sinan is huge – DA Sec Dar

DEPARTMENT of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William Dar expressed that Pangasinan has a big potential in agriculture and agribusiness during the DA- Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) Roll-out of Swine Repopulation, Rehabilitation and Recovery Credit Program on July 22 at the Sison Auditorium.
“The potential of Agriculture and Agribusiness in Pangasinan is huge. Malaki na po ang naiaambag ng probinsya ng Pangasinan.” said DA Sec. Dar.
Sec. Dar also mentioned that the agency will continue to strengthen the partnership between the Department of Agriculture and Provincial Government of Pangasinan led by Governor Amado ‘Pogi’ I. Espino III.
“That’s why we continue to have a strong partnership and we continue to nurture this tie-up because the potentials are here and there are good leaders like Governor Pogi Espino,” DA Sec. Dar added.
Gov. Espino expressed his gratitude on the arrival of the Secretary to Pangasinan and to all the grants the DA always bring to the province.
“Alam ko po na sa palaging punta ninyo sa Pangasinan ay may dala po kayong grasya. Lahat po ng punta ni’yo rito mayroon at mayroon po kayong dalang tulong para sa mga magsasaka sa buong Pangasinan,” said Gov. Espino.
The governor also thanked the National Government headed by President Rodrigo Duterte and the DA for their unending support to the farmers of Pangasinan.
“Mga kababayan, ganito po tayo kamahal ng national government, ng Department of Agriculture headed by our beloved secretary. Sa ating mga opisyal, pakiparating po sa ating mahal na Presidente ang aming pasasalamat sa suporta nila sa mga magsasaka sa buong probinsya,” Gov. Espino added.
On the other hand, the Provincial Government of Pangasinan through Gov. Espino received the Php 38 Million-worth of power sprayers, African Swine Fever (ASF) Responders Kits and Initial Recovery/Sentineling Project from the Department of Agriculture.
These grants will help in the recovery of the hog raisers and in the repopulation of swine in the province after Pangasinan maintained the zero ASF case record since February 2021.
Municipal Agriculturists of the 18 Local Government Units (LGUs) also received ASF Responders Kit and Initial Swine Production Recovery/Sentineling Package from the department.
DA Sec William Dar personally turned-over the grants together with DA Undersecretary William Medrano, DA USec Cheryl Marie Natividad, DA Consultant Rosalina Bistoyong, Assistant Secretary Noel Reyes, DA-Region 1 Executive Director Nestor Domenden and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 1 Director Rosario Segundina Gaerlan.
Joining the governor in welcoming the DA executives were Lingayen Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil, Provincial Administrator Nimrod Camba, Provincial Agriculturist Dalisay Moya, Provincial Assistant Veterinarian Jovito Tabarejos and Provincial Information Officer Orpheus Velasco. /Jerico Cayl Samsona
