
The impact of political will
A new dawn is clearly in the offing. We have been receiving news reports on good governance in towns and cities that are initiatives of both reelected and newly elected mayors with visions.
These are not programs worth millions of pesos, but programs that exemplify how political will alone can make a difference in the lives of communities.
In Calasiao, inspired by the leadership of their new mayor, the personnel of the town’s MDRRMO rejected bribe offers from some stakeholders.
The local government of Rosales has strictly prohibited the use of plastic bags for dry goods, regulates their use for wet goods, and bans the sale and use of Styrofoam containers.
