Dagupeños deserve better
THEY deserve public servants who tirelessly devote their time to improve their lot.
What they don’t deserve are elected public servants that continuously seek the nullification of an approved annual budget of the Dagupan City government that aims to deliver quality service from their government.
They don’t deserve the 2022 elected members in the Sangguniang Panlungsod that compose the majority bloc out to destabilize efforts of the city government to provide good governance.
Never mind that the majority bloc feels entitled to shout invectives, insult and demean the offices of the mayor, vice mayor and the city secretary, because that shows their upbringing. But for them to introduce rules at the SP that flagrantly violate laws and rules stipulated in the Local Government Code just to regain their lost political clout, is the height of their almost criminal design not only to deprive Dagupeños of good governance but to insult the intelligence of Dagupeños.
Then, Dagupeños did not deserve that insidious attempt to be served a trashy annual budget that the members of the majority crafted that gratefully the Department of Budget deemed as “inoperative in its entirety” and, therefore, rejected outright.
Their inexplicable arrogance obviously stems from their having succeeded in having themselves appointed as heads of all committees with Librada Reyna-Macalanda as the majority leader: Redford Erfe-Mejia (committees on budget, appropriations, laws, Alipio Serafin Fernandez (committees on rules, ordinances and justice, civil service), Celia Chua-Lim, (committee on economic affairs), Irene Lim-Acosta (committee on youth labor, employment and livelihood), Alvin Coquia (committees on public works and justice) and Marilou Fernandez (committee on health).
Evidently lost in the minds of the arrogant members of the majority in the Sangguniang Panlungsod from the day they took their oaths as honorable members as legislators, is the littlest motivation to make the city government operate efficiently so Dagupeños can be served well by their government.
Dagupeños don’t deserve them.
What they deserve is a ruling from the Ombudsman to see them suspended from office, banished for attempting to impose an agenda that only serves their dire need for self-aggrandizement.
