Your Sunday PUNCH’S 2023 Resolution

HERE we are again – most everyone is contemplating what happened to all their past New Year resolutions, particularly the broken ones, and how to frame the new ones cautiously without much optimism given how one’s past resolutions fared in the past.

We in The Sunday PUNCH can only look forward to keeping up with our mission, mainly to keep our readers abreast of news as these happened and evolved, to be a better watchdog to our local governments’ officials and to be open to new formats and technology in reporting the news and opinions by our columnists and readers.

Thanks to our loyal readers and advertisers, your Sunday PUNCH remains the most widely-read community newspaper in print form and on the Internet (punch.dagupan.com) in and about Pangasinan. On our 66th year in this 21st century, we are still looking forward to deliver on our mission with the same passion and determination, whatever the odds, with one special focus – to influence more communities to be more proactive in engaging their respective public officials through us.

Looking back, it can be said that The Sunday PUNCH’s website in 1987 was the forerunner of Facebook that only came to life in 2005. It was The PUNCH that linked lost relatives and friends, overseas and domestic, that provided news updates about community life in our province, towns and cities. While our website’s format was overshadowed by Facebook, your Sunday PUNCH remained Pangasinenses’ main link to everything Pangasinan.

This year, your Sunday PUNCH will seek to influence more Pangasinenses to stand up to express their support and dissent to public policies, prod more of our elected officials to articulate their views and vision so more projects and programs can be accomplished with better results.

We will begin to post links to official websites of towns and cities to help facilitate talking points and communication between local government and their constituents. Your Sunday PUNCH, in turn will seek to capsulize significant developments in the towns/cities as reported by town/city/information offices.

Engaging and linking governments and their constituents will be our resolution and buzzword this year.

The PUNCH FAMILY wishes you, your family, your business endeavors, your advocacies to build better communities, the very best for the coming year!

What’s yours? How can we help?
