Mangaldan extends slaughterhouse hours for holidays
TO meet the surge in meat demand during the holiday season, the Mangaldan local slaughterhouse has extended its operating hours to ensure a stable supply in the market.
Aji Cabrera, head of the General Services Office, said slaughtering of large livestock such as cows and carabaos now starts at 7:30 p.m. and runs until 4 a.m. to accommodate increased demand.
Cabrera noted that the volume of animals being slaughtered has also gone up to maintain steady supply. “We are doing our best to ensure there will be no shortage of meat in the coming days,” he said.
Despite higher demand, Cabrera assured consumers that pork prices will remain stable at P340 to P360 per kilo, while chicken prices have slightly dropped to P190 to P200 per kilo.
With sufficient pork supply in local markets, Cabrera urged the public not to worry about possible shortages during the holidays. (Ahikam Pasion)
