Tourism-oriented establishments need DOT accreditation
THE Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) urged non-accredited and newly opened tourist accommodations in Pangasinan to secure Department of Tourism (DOT) accreditation to guarantee safe, high-quality stays for travelers.
Of the total 355 tourism-oriented establishments in Pangasinan as of August 31 this year, at least 267 are DOT-accredited, while 88 have still pending accreditation.
DOT accreditation is more than a legal requirement because it serves as a mark of trust that assures visitors of meeting national standards in comfort, cleanliness, and safety.
Marco Sales, tourism operations officer of PTCAO-Pangasinan, said the process protects travelers while recognizing compliant establishments, strengthening the province’s reputation as a dependable tourist destination.
“In partnership with DOT Region 1, we conduct validation and ocular inspections to ensure an establishment is tourism-ready and promotes responsible, sustainable tourism,” Sales said during the Tourism Month celebration this September.
He added that establishments that pass receive official certification.
Hotels, resorts, tourist inns, pension houses, bed-and-breakfasts, homestays, restaurants, museums, rest areas, and other tourism-related enterprises may apply if they meet standards for facilities, sanitation, and customer service. (PIA Pangasinan)
