Mangaldan farmers receive P3.5-M farm machinery
FARMERS from two local associations in Mangaldan received farm machinery valued at P3.5 million from the government in a ceremonial turnover on August 27, 2025.
The Masigasig Alitaya Farmers Irrigators Association, Inc. was granted a rice combine harvester worth nearly P2 million. Romulo B. Petrola, president of the association, along with other officials, accepted the donation.
Meanwhile, the Maasin-Malabago Irrigators Association, Inc. received a four-wheel drive tractor valued at approximately P1.5 million. The association’s leader, Arturo A. Cendaña, who also serves as chair of the Municipal Agriculture and Fishery Council (MAFC), accepted the equipment on behalf of the group.
The Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) said the machinery is expected to significantly expedite the planting and harvesting processes as well as reduce operational costs and increase crop yields.
To ensure proper use and maintenance of the equipment, Mayor Bona Fe de Vera-Parayno signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the beneficiary farmer associations on the terms of use and maintenance.
Parayno noted that this initiative is part of the DA’s Rice Farm Mechanization Program, which aims to enhance rice production through the adoption of advanced technology and machinery. (Ahikam Pasion
