By August 2, 2025Business

THE local government of Bolinao is enforcing a price freeze on basic necessities following the town’s official declaration of a state of calamity due to widespread damage brought by Tropical Cyclone Emong (international name: Go-may) and the southwest monsoon.

In a post on its official Facebook page on July 30, the local government announced that the price freeze takes effect  July 28, 2025, by Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 2025-108 and Section 6 of Republic Act No. 7581, also known as the Price Act.

Under the measure, businesses are prohibited from raising prices of essential goods for 60 days, unless earlier lifted by a directive from the Office of the President. Violators may face penalties of up to ₱1,000,000, suspension or revocation of business permits, and other sanctions as prescribed by law.

The municipal government is urging consumers to report any overpricing by sellers, distributors, or manufacturers through its official Facebook page or via email at lgubolinao@gmail.com.

The price freeze aims to protect residents in all 30 barangays of Bolinao who are reeling from the effects of the recent calamity. (Eva Visperas)
