WITH STORAGE FACILITY FOR GREEN ENERGY

SAN Roque Hydropower, Inc. (SRHI) is planning to build another major renewable energy project in Pangasinan, a 400-megawatt pumped-storage hydropower facility.

SRHI said it will pursue the San Roque Optimization pumped-storage hydropower project when it files its plans with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. It will span four towns in the province with a lower dam, storage pond, pumphouse, waterways, access roads, and a transmission line.

A pumped-storage facility works by releasing water from an upper reservoir to a lower one, generating electricity in the process.

SRHI said the new solar and wind projects coming online will serve as a “grid-balancing solution,” storing large volumes of energy and helping manage fluctuations in power supply.

Looking ahead, the company says advancements in technology and combining pumped-storage with other energy storage solutions will pave the way for a more sustainable energy future.

Public scoping on July 11, will mark the start of the environmental impact assessment process, with the project details and feedback from the community.
