COA commends Villasis for financial reporting for 9th year

By July 6, 2025Business

VILLASIS received its 9th consecutive unmodified opinion from the Commission on Audit (COA), signifying the municipal government’s consistent adherence to financial reporting standards.

This year’s opinion was officially communicated on June 20 by the COA Regional Office No. 1-Office of the Supervising Auditor, to Mayor Nonato Abrenica, who finished his third three-year term on June 30.

COA, however, explains on its website that an unmodified opinion, also called an unqualified opinion, does not mean that the audited government unit or agency “fully complies with all the laws, rules, and regulations or that the uses of funds on the agency’s programs, projects, and activities are economical, effective, or efficient.”

The  Villasis local government commended Marlene Francisco, head of the Municipal Accounting Office, and her hardworking team for their diligence in ensuring the timely preparation and submission of all required financial documents — an essential factor in earning an unmodified opinion.
