Small-scale Mangaldan farmers get P7K cash aid
SOME 1,864 small-scale farmers in the town of Mangaldan each received P7,000 in cash assistance from the Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 1 under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund–Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA) Program, with support from the local government.
The financial aid is intended for rice farmers cultivating up to two hectares, whose livelihoods have been impacted by the implementation of the Rice Tariffication Law.
The ceremonial handover of Intervention Monitoring Cards (IMCs), which function like cash cards, was held on Tuesday, June 10, at the Municipal Hall grounds.
Mayor Bona Fe de Vera-Parayno led the distribution along with Municipal Agriculture Office representatives and Rice Banner Coordinator Manuel S. Aquino.
Each IMC contains P7,000 in assistance, which can be withdrawn from any BancNet ATM or authorized cash-out center.
Another 350 farmers are expected to claim their cards in the days ahead
Parayno assured farmers that it would not be the last form of assistance they would receive, because the local government continues efforts to secure more agricultural grants and aid from the DA and other national agencies. (Ahikam Pasion)
