THE Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (CENPELCO) announced that all 553 barangays across 14 municipalities and one city within its service area are now fully energized.

Riza Reyes of the Member Services Department of CENPELCO said the cooperative is also continuously modernizing its facilities to serve its consumer members better.

“Our facilities are constantly being upgraded to deliver the necessary services efficiently,” she said, acknowledging that meeting public expectations remains a significant challenge.

Under the Electricity Power Industry Reform Act of 2001, all distribution utilities are mandated to fully energize all areas within their franchise.

Reyes said CENPELCO has linemen on rotational duty 24/7 to handle unscheduled power interruptions due to various reasons, such as damaged cables or transformers as she pointed out that the cooperative maintains one of the most competitive rates among all electric distribution utilities nationwide as she explained that only 18% of the collections go directly to the CENPELCO, with the rest allocated to power generation, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, taxes, environmental fees, and subsidies for small island communities.
