Anda, Bolinao now red tide-free
THE red tide warning in the coastal towns of Anda and Bolinao was lifted, paving the way for the resumption of shellfish gathering in the area.
Under Shellfish Bulletin No. 13, Series of 2025, issued on June 9, 2025, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) said shellfish from these areas are now free of paralytic shellfish poison (PSP), or saxitoxin.
The red tide alert, first issued in April, halted the harvesting and sale of shellfish due to health risks.
With the red tide-free declaration, local fishers and vendors can now safely resume operations for tahong (mussels) and talaba (oysters) from these areas. (Eva Visperas
