416 job seekers hired at DOLE Independence Day job fairs

SOME 416 job seekers were hired on the spot, while 112 others were nearly hired during the Department of Labor and Employment Region 1’s (DOLE RO1) Independence Day job fairs held on June 12, 2025.

The fairs, conducted across six venues in Region 1, drew 1,747 applicants and offered over 13,500 job vacancies from 139 employers.

The job fairs took place at SM City Laoag, Candon Civic Center, Robinsons San Fernando, Nepo Mall Dagupan, Alaminos Gymnasium, and SM City Urdaneta.

DOLE RO1 Regional Director Exequiel Ronie Guzman recalled the agency’s commitment to help Filipinos have access to decent work and better livelihood.

A success story among the new hires was Erika Bernardo from San Jacinto town, who was hired as a waitress at the Panaderia Antonio.

“I am thankful to DOLE for giving us this opportunity to be directed to jobs which could help us sustain our living,” she said.

Another was Erwin Jay Agas from Calasiao, who will work as a Processing Crew at SV Manpower Services. He said he is excited to begin his work adventure.

Government agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, SSS, and PhilHealth, among others, also provided on-site services.

In partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, 4Ps beneficiaries were invited to apply for jobs, with some eligible for a ₱5,000 job-start financial aid. The Department of Health also offered free pre-employment medical checkups. (Eva Visperas)
