Onion prices rising, large stocks now in cold storage
MONTHS after onion prices came crashing down, farmers can now heave a sigh of relief as rates gradually start to increase in markets across Pangasinan.
From P100 pesos per kilogram, current prices now range between P120 and P140.
John Batoy, an onion farmer in Bautista town, said a significant portion of the area’s onion harvest has already been harvested, with only a few remaining fields in neighboring Nueva Ecija province that are yet to be harvested.
Additionally, a large volume of onions has been secured in cold storage facilities.
Meanwhile, the Samahan ng Industriya ng Agrikultura (SINAG) assured the public that there will be enough supply of onions until the end of the year. (Ahikam Pasion)
