DECORP rate higher in April 

THE Dagupan Electric Corporation (DECORP) said electricity bills for April were higher by almost P1 per kilowatt hour due to a corresponding increase in power rates at the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).

Atty Randy Castillan, DECORP spokesperson, said the utility’s P10.58/kwh average selling rate in April was higher than the P 9.48.kwh in previous months.

Jobseekers hired on the spot during Labor Day fair get cash aid

JOB applicants who were hired on the spot during the Labor Day job fair sponsored by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) held at a shopping mall in Calasiao received P5,000 each from the Department of Social Welfare and Development under its Employment Assistance Fund.

Rhoda Dingle, officer-in-charge of DOLE Central Pangasinan, said the job fair was participated in  by 22 local employers and four overseas employers. (Mathew Pacheco)

Bolinao beach resort closed after complaints

ACTING on overcharging complaints posted online by guests, the Bolinao local government temporarily closed a beach resort in the town while the matter was being investigated.

Aside from temporarily closing the establishment, the Municipal Engineering Office also dismantled an infrastructure built by the resort at a prohibited zone within the beach. (Jam Victorio)

Smaller eggs produced due to intense heat

The sizes of eggs produced in poultry farms in Pangasinan have become smaller because of the intense heat, according to the  Samahang Industriya Agrikultura (SINAG), which means financial loss to raisers as they are forced to charge less.

SINAG also said there is currently an oversupply of eggs in the province. (Mathew Pacheco)

Bus conductor faces sanctions over discounts 

THE Land Transportation Office in Region 1 has traced the bus conductor who had gone viral on social media after reportedly refusing to give the mandatory 20% discount for senior citizens, students, and persons with disabilities, and seemingly failed to give other passengers their change.

According to LTO, a show cause order will be issued against the conductor and could be slapped with administrative sanctions. (Jam Victorio)

JSCC holds final meeting before polls

MEMBERS of the Joint Security Control Center, which include the Dagupan police and representatives from the Commission on Elections, held their final coordination meeting last week for the May 12 elections.

Hundreds of Solid North buses grounded in Dagupan 

HUNDREDS of Pangasinan Solid North buses are grounded at the company’s terminals along the Jose de Venecia Expressway Extension and  Arellano Street following the 30-day suspension on all its operations in the aftermath of a crash involving one of its units where 10 people, including four children, were killed, and 37 others wounded.

The halt in operations has affected the income of the bus firm’s drivers, conductors, maintenance personnel and other employees. (Mathew Pacheco)
