P200-M community hospital to rise in Alcala
A community hospital will soon be built in Alcala, with an estimated construction cost of P200 million, to serve the town’s residents as well as neighboring areas.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Pangasinan approved a resolution on March 10, 2025, authorizing Gov. Ramon Guico III to sign a deed of donation for a 3,000-square-meter lot for the Alcala Community Hospital, which will become the 15th provincial hospital.
“The hospital will provide healthcare services to the residents of Alcala, Santo Tomas, Bautista, and nearby areas, similar to the approach we took with the expansion of Umingan Community Hospital,” Vice Governor Mark Ronald Lambino, the presiding officer of the SP, said in an interview.
Construction is expected to start within the year, he added.
Lambino also clarified that while province-run hospitals are primarily aimed at providing free or low-cost healthcare services, patients who can afford higher fees such as for private rooms are also welcome.
He highlighted the broader healthcare initiatives of the provincial government, including the ongoing accreditation of the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos City to become a tertiary hospital, with new equipment and training programs already in place. (Eva Visperas)
