Infanta corn farmers complete training on new techniques

SOME 60 farmers from Infanta wrapped up their training program on modern corn farming techniques while reducing pesticide use, boosting crop yield on March 11, 2025.

The program, implemented by the Municipal Agriculture Office, was the season-long Farmers’ Field School (FFS) on Corn Production and Management under the Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Training Institute–Regional Training Center 1 (ATI-RTC 1) in Hacienda Quinition Integrated Farm in Infanta, Pangasinan.

Apart from lectures, the training also featured a farm walk to showcase best practices and innovations in corn production.

During the concluding ceremony, Engr. Jordan Gabur, ATI-RTC 1’s corn program point person, underscored the vital role of farmers in boosting the economy as well as in achieving food sustainability and food security.

The occasion was attended by Infanta Vice Mayor Virgilio F. Vallarca and Municipal Administrator Alberto Taguian. (Kim Gealogo)
