No active ASF case in Pangasinan

By February 23, 2025Business

THE Provincial Veterinary Office confirmed that there is currently no active case of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Pangasinan.

Dr. Arcely Rebeniol, OIC Provincial Veterinarian, said they have already validated reports from various municipalities and cities of having no active ASF case, but the province cannot be considered as ‘ASF Free’ just yet.

She explained that there is still a ‘zoning progression’ in the province, where the pink zone represents places that are being monitored but have no cases of the disease.

The PVO said the province maintains a high vigilance against ASF in compliance with Executive Order No. 0091-2024 signed by Governor Ramon Guico III.

According to Rebeniol, the province has 14 existing quarantine checkpoints that are supervised 24/7 to monitor and inspect the transport of hogs, pork, and its by-products into Pangasinan and ensure that these are all disease-free. (Kim Gealogo)
